MapStory.Org: Telling Stories with Data and Maps

Mapstory.org is a place where people can create, map and collaborate using data to tell stories.  Imagine the ways this could be used in school.  Here is a mapstory about the FIFA World Cup winners

Here is what the site states about itself:

At MapStory, we have a simple but ambitious goal – to empower a global community to map the human experience over time, throughout history. We believe that, while we all share one past (present and future!), we each experience it differently. And instead of understanding our complex world through neat, well-ordered facts, as human beings we tend to make meaning through stories. MapStory, therefore, is an attempt to provide us with a place to share what we know about the world, to engage in constructive and respectful dialogue about our different interpretations, and ultimately to achieve a superior understanding of who we are, how we’ve changed and even what the future might hold for us as a people, and as a planet.
